May 15-17th
The 20th Annual American Art Conference is this weekend May 15-17th at the CUNY Graduate Center. This year’s theme is “Insight and Inclusion: Expanding Visions of American Art,” with a goal to shine a light on artists and movements that have been overlooked in recent years. Jonathan Spies of Menconi + Schoelkopf will speak on the career of Henry Augustus Ferguson, a Hudson River School painter who was well regarded in his day, but largely forgotten by the mid-twentieth century. Jonathan’s talk begins at 2:00 on Friday, May 15th at 365 Fifth Avenue (at 34th Street), but the conference runs through the weekend beginning Friday morning. See a complete list of speakers here, and register for the conference here, and use the promo code “early reg” for $100 off the registration fee of $350.
